Been in an Accident? Here's Where to Start. For injuries or an immediate emergency, call 911 first.
Once you are safe, contact the Northside Customer Assistance Center at (315) 622-5678 for collision repair assistance. Let the team know you are a Rapp or Auburn Auto Group customer so they can identify your connection to our dealership and help coordinate your next steps. 4. Do I have to use the collision repair shop my insurance company recommends in New York?
No. New York Insurance Law § 2610 protects your right to choose your repair shop. The law includes this notice:
"PURSUANT TO SECTION 2610 OF THE INSURANCE LAW, AN INSURANCE COMPANY CANNOT REQUIRE THAT REPAIRS BE MADE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE IN A PARTICULAR PLACE OR REPAIR SHOP. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE REPAIRED IN THE SHOP OF YOUR CHOICE".
Your policy's coverage, deductible and applicable limits still apply. Discuss repair costs and insurance payment arrangements before authorizing repairs.
5. Who should I call if my vehicle needs towing after an accident?
For an immediate emergency, call 911 and follow instructions from responding authorities. For collision repair assistance once you are safe, call the Northside Customer Assistance Center at (315) 622-5678 and mention Rapp GMC. Confirm the receiving facility, available assistance and drop-off instructions before arranging a tow. Do not drive a vehicle that may be unsafe.
6. How long will my collision repair take?
Repair time depends on the extent of the damage, parts availability, insurance approvals and any additional damage found during disassembly. Our partnership with Northside Collision is intended to make the process more efficient. The collision team can discuss an estimated timeline after evaluating your vehicle and update you if the repair plan changes.
7. Do I need to file a New York DMV accident report if the police already filed one?
Yes, if the crash meets New York's reporting requirements. For a crash occurring in New York State involving injury, death or damage exceeding $1,000 to the property of any one person, you must file Form MV-104 with DMV within 10 days. A police report does not replace your required DMV filing. Notify your insurance company promptly as well.
